Asus’ New Robot Looks Good On Paper, But Awkward During Real Interactions

Believing in your product is key before putting it on the market, promoting it and expecting to see sales. That said, Asus seems to be doing the exact opposite with its first robotic helper, Zenbo. While the little one seems good on paper, delivering everything that is expected from a home robot, at a resonable price, during real interactions he… gives you the chills. That’s not his fault 100%, since the actors and the feel of the promotional video is cringeworthy #objectmagic

Imagine a tablet on wheels with voice recognition and an evolving AI and… you have Zenbo. The bot’s interface was made to appeal to children and adults in equal manner, with friendly facial expressions and a cute tone of voice. Zenbo was created to help elderly with reminders and entertain children with music and videos, but it can also serve as a controller of smart home systems and interact with families on a daily basis.

At $599, most of us would consider it a great deal… if Asus didn’t make the mistake of hiring awkward actors and employing a stiff script to make its promotional video. Just watch it above – isn’t something off about it?
