Andy Rubin’s Essential phone caused quite the stir. The almost bezel-less display and modular structure grabbed our attention as well as customers’ from U.S. That’s why one of the four big carriers in the States will start selling the device this year #mobilemagic
Until now, you could grab the Essential phone from the official website but there wasn’t any offer coming from one of the main U.S. carriers. That’s about to change, Niccolo de Masi, Essential’s President, announced. It seems that Sprint is the only carrier that will have Andy Rubin’s Phone on display and for purchase. The reason is unclear but de Masi has implied that Sprint’ market is the one they are really trying to reach.
That said, it doesn’t hurt that Rubin knows personally Masayoshi Son, CEO of SoftBank. Given his investment in Sprint (quite literally), it’s easy to guess that the two sat down and agreed to work together. Sprint hasn’t made any comment regarding their price of the Phone, but you can make an idea of a possible cost if you take into account that the unlocked version of the mobile will set you back $699.
Remember, the main specs of the Essential Phone are:
- Snapdragon 835 processor
- 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage
- 13MP dual cameras
- 8MP selfie shooter
- 3,040 mAh battery
- magnetic connector for accessories (360-degree camera)
