Garmin has launched the Tactix Charlie smartwatch, one that’s designed to keep you safe and keep up with you in most adventures. This third entry to the Garmin tactix line is rugged and pretty powerful, just as their spherical action camera.
Featuring full-color topographic mapping, a gyroscope, a barometric altimeter and a 3-axis compass, it’s a smartwatch that promises a lot more convenience than a handheld GPS.
It also tracks your heart rate during the 26 built-in activities and offers a metric for anaerobic training effects.
The Tactix Charlie has up to 16 GB of storage for map data, including marine charts, and an extremely impressive battery. A single charge will last 12 days in smartwatch mode, 35 hours in battery saver mode and 20 hours in GPS mode.
Of course, durability is also one of the main features of this latest Garmin wearable. It has a carbon coated titanium bezel, a titanium rear cover, stainless steel buttons and a scratch-resistant domed sapphire lens.
That lens protects a 1.2 inch display that can be read in the sunlight and switch between daytime use and night vision goggle compatibility.
So much Tactix won’t come cheap so, if you want it, this tough smartwatch can be yours for $749.99.
