Intel really outdid itself with the announcement of Intel Core i9, a processor that will make laptops feel just as powerful as a desktop PC.
With six cores, twelve threads, and up to 4.8GHz when cooled below 53 degrees Celsius, Intel Core i9-8950HK is an impressive sight and the more you use it, the more you’ll realize how essential it is for demanding tasks. #hardwaremagic
It also comes unlocked, so Intel expects you (or other companies) to push it to 5GHz+.
“At the top of the stack, the 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK processor is optimized to push the limits of performance. It is the first mobile Intel processor with six cores and 12 threads. It comes fully unlocked and features the new Intel Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB), which opportunistically and automatically increases clock frequency up to 200 MHz if the processor temperature is low enough and turbo power budget is available.
This translates to a turbo frequency of up to 4.8 GHz,” boasted Intel.
According to the company, it’s 29% percent faster than last year’s high-end laptop CPU, the Core i7-7820HK, and 59% faster if you use it to edit 4K videos. Here’s how the 8th gen looks in comparison – perhaps this lineup is just the thing needed to push Intel back into the first spot as largest chipmaker out there.
