Thinking about an original present to give? Or just want a functional gadget to leave your friends dumbfounded? Then, Electric Paint, a product currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter, is your answer. The simple kit can turn any piece of paper into a lamp #objectmagic
Electric Paint is the work of UK company Bare Conductive. As the name says, it’s a non-toxic paint with conductive abilities that turns common materials in lamps. The kit that’s currently on Kickstarter gives users everything they need to turn a simple material into a light fixture. You’ve got the electric paint, light-up board, templates for the paper lamps and a micro USB cable.
Needless to say, you can use plastic or other textiles to make sturdier lamps that will resist for a longer period of time. No programming skills needed. And that’s not all. Besides having a cool, almost magical lamp in your living room (or gifting one), you’ll be able to interact with it differently. There’s a touch lamp, one with adjustable brightness levels and a third one that starts to function when you hover your hand over it.
Pretty cool, right? The best part is you don’t have to raid the piggy bank to get one. Starting price is £32 ( about $43). Since Bare Conductive’s goal has been reached for a while now, expect the kit to start shipping this December, just in time for Christmas.
