At today’s Unpacked Samsung event, Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus took center stage. We saw the devices’ big selling points, including or better said, beginning with Bixby. But how about price and preorders? Don’t worry, they’ve been announced too #mobilemagic
If you followed the event online or read about it here, then you’re still waiting to find out the retail prices, preorders schedule and the stores where you’ll likely find the handset. Thankfully, Samsung announced the starting price of Galaxy S8, as well as the release date. From April 21st, you’ll be able to ask carriers and retailers for the standard version, which should sell at $720.
If you’ve been saving to buy this device, then don’t be afraid to place a preorder. Wait 24-hours and check out websites starting tomorrow, March 30th. All four big carriers are going. From what we’ve seen so far, the recommended price of Galaxy S8 Plus is $840, give or take $10.
Depending on the store of your choice, you can get discounts at other Samsung accessories and devices when preordering one of the smartphones.
Either way, Samsung used caution this time and avoided to overprice the devices. If you remember, when Galaxy Note 7 launched last year, it had a whooping starting price of $834!
Speaking of Galaxy Note 7, Samsung stressed that the S8 and S8 Plus have no way of risking your lives. They were put through rigorous testing at the Samsung factories. Both devices passed the 8-point battery safety check, basically a series of tests meant to put the batteries (and phones) through hell. These range from thermal shock and drop tests to repeated charge/discharge cycles, X-rays and more.
