Panasonic Transparent OLED Display Will Upgrade Your Living Space

Designed to seemingly blend into your living room, this OLED display from Panasonic is the ultimate mix between home design and technology.

This OLED display concept was included as part of a Salone del Mobile installation from furniture brand Vitra. The Panasonic display concept looks like a glass cabinet and can become a seamless part of a modern home.

The device comes as the result of many workshops held by Vitra and Panasonic, combining expertise in furniture design and technology knowledge to integrate audiovisual devices into living spaces.

Created by the Scandinavian designer Daniel Rybakken and Panasonic Design Kyoto, the concept works pretty easy.  When is not functioning, the display looks like a glass pane housed in a wooden frame; it only comes to life when powered on. Other electrical components are hidden within the frame, to give it a more minimalistic look. Ambient lighting is on, whether or not images are displayed on the screen.

Designed to blend in, not to stand out, the transparent OLED display is now at the stage of design concept, but Panasonic is taking into consideration a future production of it, depending on the feedback.

The concept can be seen at Vitra’s booth at the Salone del Mobile, until April 14, in Milano.
