Upcoming Huawei Foldable Phone May Be Called Mate V

Foldable phones have become quite popular lately, and manufacturers like Samsung, Motorola and Huawei dared to level up and embraced this trending technology.

According to a LetsGoDigital report, the Chinese manufacturer Huawei Technologies indexed a trademark at the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office)that mentions the brand name Mate V.

Classified as Class 9, the trademark involved a variety of electronics, but it could as well be a smartphone, as the manufacturer used alike one-letter monikers for smartphones before, like the Mate S or the Mate X.

Huawei’s Mate X foldable phone debuted during the MWC 2019, which took place in February. The phone, which features an 8-inch display that turns into a 6.38-inch one after folding, features a Kirin 980 chipset set under the hood, alongside the company’s proprietary Balong 5000 5G modem.

Huawei’s upcoming foldable smartphone will be the first Huawei smartphone with a 120Hz refresh rate.
