While GoPro is recalling all its Karma drones, risking to remain a company that produces just action cameras, DJI is consolidating its place on the market with Mavic Pro and the recently unveiled DJI Phantom 4 Pro #actionmagic
As the name suggests, the new drone isn’t a surprising quadcopter for the series, but rather a powerful upgrade to the already popular drone. So, what do you gain if you opt for a Phantom 4 Pro now?
Obstacle avoidance while flying at 31mph. In fact, this time, obstacle avoidance is the feature that the company gave most attention to. Besides eliminating the risk of crash while at full speed (previously, you could only go so fast in Sport Mode which disabled obstacle avoidance), DJI made sure you can always back up and still have the feature on thanks to rear sensors. Moreover, if you lose connection with the remote, Phantom 4 Pro will know how to return home thanks to a new return-to-home feature; plus, obstacle avoidance will automatically kick in. With infrared sensing systems aboard, this makes a total of five-directions of obstacle sensing and four-directions of obstacle avoidance.
More flight time. This time, Phantom 4 Pro can fly for up to 30 minutes – we know, we know, it adds just a couple of minutes to the time guaranteed by Phantom 4, but they could come in handy when you’re almost at the end of a video recording.
Better images and video. Phantom 4 Pro comes with a larger camera sensor that offers 11.6 stops of dynamic range. Plus, you can record 4K at 60fps now, with up to 100Mbps.
Touchscreen remote. Finally, you’ll be able to leave your smartphone aside! Now, you have the option to choose a remote with 5.5-inch screen where you can see everything your drone shoots and draw a path on the screen for it to follow.
DJI Phantom 4 Pro will begin shipping next year. The basic Pnatom 4 Pro model costs $1500 while the on with touchscreen remote costs $1800.
