Photo cameras and SD cards go hand in hand – you can’t have one without the other. SanDisk knew that 16 years ago, when it launched the first 64MB card and knows that now, in 2016, when the production of 4K videos and 360-degree content is growing exponentially. The company took advantage of their presence at Photokina to launch the first ever 1TB SD card #hardwaremagic
Before you get too excited, take a breath and get ready to hear that… it’s only a prototype. They have no idea when the 1Tb SDXC will actually hit the market or what the price will be. “Western Digital plans to monitor industry trends and demands, and introduce the card in retail accordingly. Price would depend on market conditions at the time it’s released“, said the company to Computerworld.
When it does though, you will be able to cram all your 4K videos and 360 degree photos there and not worry about deleting either soon.
Needless to say, it will be much pricier than the 512GB card launched in 2014. Back then, it was priced at $800 but can now be bought for $350. That said, to have in your hands a tiny card that stores more than a classic laptop is no small thing.
