Welcome to Extraordinary Tech 2018 Day 15. Join Buchanan, Joelle, Mike and myself on our adventures as we test out some of the best tech available in 2018. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we’ll be showcasing devices that came with us on a cross-country trip this summer, ranging from an outdoor speaker that will change the way you think of sound to a smartwatch that offers the best fitness features at an affordable price. Along the way, we’ll be hosting giveaways of some of the tech featured in this series, so stay tuned!
It was the quiet before the storm. There was an emptiness of sound and space. But it was about to start.
The beat of the drums came from behind, but disappeared before I could find the source. The sound reappeared to my right before quickly fading back into silence. It kept flitting in and out, hitting me with a precise and clear string of notes before rushing back into the shadows.
This process repeated until I was interrupted with a heavy nudge. I heard, “Patrick?”
Lost in the sound, I had forgotten the world around me. I looked up to see a pair of expectant eyes.
“So, how was it?”
I totally forgot it was meant to be a test run, to check out the product and see what we could do with it. All I could stammer out was:
“You have to try these on.”
As the headphones went back and forth to each of them, their eyes began to glaze over. You could tell they were lost in a world of sound, too! The only way to grab their attention was to tap them out of their stupor. Stunned, shocked, and a little shaken, all they could say was:
“Wow.”
As we wandered around the island, we could see that sentiment of disbelief mirrored on the countless faces of Catalina locals and tourists. The exterior aluminum alloy and steel construction gave the headphones a clean, stylish and chic look.
People saw how amazing the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless looked. They didn’t know that it sounded even better.
Bottom Line:
While we could go on about the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless’s superb audio quality, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention that they’re actually marketed as gaming headphones. In fact, Mike tested them out at leisure with gaming in mind. Check out the video review above!
True to gaming tech tradition, the headphones have the latest and greatest tech highly optimized for gameplay: first of its kind in gaming headphones DTS Headphone:X v2.0, retractable ClearCast microphone with background noise cancellation, and a transmitter base station to customize sound equalization, among other things. Additionally, the headphones are fitted with Airweave fabric ear cushions inspired by athletics-wear and woven ski goggle fabric suspension headband for maximum comfort over long gaming sessions.
Even though it’s made with gamers in mind, anyone can enjoy the Arctis Pro Wireless. It brings atmosphere to music, challenging the limitations of sound by lifting it into a 3-dimensional space.
Whether you’re a gamer who needs to hear enemy footsteps more clearly or an audiophile yearning to hear higher quality sound, the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless gives you music, movies, games the way they were meant to be heard: as if you were right there in the middle of the action.
The Extraordinary Tech series was produced in partnership with Xperi. We were not compensated by SteelSeries for this review. The Arctis Pro Wireless is available at steelseries.com starting at $329.99.
