Huawei is ready to launch a sequel to the watch that debuted in 2015, this time with a bit of extra connectivity. It seems that the company is going to reveal a LTE version of the watch at MWC 2017 #objectmagic

This year, at Mobile World Congress, Huawei is going to reveal two versions of its Watch 2, a Wi-Fi standard one and a LTE model. Both will use Android Wear 2.0 OS, but only one will be completely independent. Those of you who will go for the second version will not have to depend on your smartphone anymore. Notifications, mails, messages – they’ll go straight to the smartwatch, no need for a connected phone.

Until now, you had two options: using your smartwatch only as a fitness tracker on your yoga/jogging sessions or carrying an extra hoodie, for smartphone pockets, if you expected a call or message. This February, you won’t have to sacrifice one for the other.

Better still – at least two smartwatches will sport this feature. Huawei won’t be the only one to launch a LTE-enabled device. It won’t even be the first one. LG Watch Urbane 2 was the first Android Wear smartwatch with cellular network connection in 2015 but was pulled from the shelves soon after due to “manufacturing issues”. In May 2016, it became available to the general public for the second time at the starting price of $359.99 from AT&T with a compulsory $10 subscription for data connection.

So, the big selling point of Huawei Watch 2 will be the price, if it comes close to the rumored one of  $199 at AT&T, writes TechRadar.
