Amazon has big plans for the UK, as the company is reportedly planning to launch Fire TV Edition smart TVs in that region.
The launch is seen as a push to attract viewers away from competition like Sky and Virgin Media and, of course, to bring more subscribers to Prime Video. These devices, shipping with Alexa as an added bonus, would be ready just in time for next year’s Amazon Prime Day.
According to The Telegraph, the company has already sent for testing a set of Fire TV smart TVs to the DTG, the organization that handles the technical standards for digital terrestrial broadcasts in the UK.
The TVs for the UK market are produced by “a group of Chinese manufacturers including Huawei,” while in the US Element is the main manufacturer.
