The long-awaited latest entry to the Assassin’s Creed series has just been announced. Centering around the time of the Vikings, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be released holiday 2020.
According to a press release by Ubisoft, players will play as a Viking named Eivor as they try to settle with their fellow Vikings in the ninth-century England. Employing a new combat system, Valhalla will be more action-packed to simulate the brutality of the Viking raids. However, battling isn’t the only way to win favor in England as players will have to deftly navigate the politics of diplomacy and warfare.
Based on the information given, it seems as if Valhalla will be deviating slightly from the traditional Assassin’s Creed action-stealth formula with a heavier focus on action. However, players can still play stealthily through diplomacy and with the blade Eivor has hidden within their sleeve.
Additionally, a big part of Valhalla seems to be the settling of the Norse people. As stated in Ubisoft’s press release, these Viking will “have to build a new home in the hostile lands of England… provid[ing] for yourself and your people by constructing, customizing, and upgrading your settlement with new buildings like barracks, blacksmiths, and tattoo parlors, all while recruiting new members to grow your clan.”
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be available holiday season 2020 for both new and old generations (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC and Stadia).
