Ford has revealed that it will be launching its very first Mustang-inspired battery-electric vehicle later this year . The car will have a WLTP (World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure)-certified range of 370 miles (595Km).
The car is dubbed the Mach 1 and its driving range would match a petrol-powered car and more – it’s actually in the more range, to be honest. The EV will be able to cover more ground than the V8-powered Mustang can travel with a full tank, to date.
To give you an idea, a Mustang with a manual gearbox is capable of traveling around 290 miles (469Km) with a full tank of 61-litres.
Of course, all these calculations are based off a government requirement test that doesn’t really fit real life much, especially under less than ideal situations, but you get the idea – a Mustang driver would go through more than just 61-litres to travel almost 300 miles with their vehicle, which basically makes Mach 1’s figures even more impressive.
For the time being, Ford has not released any other details about the upcoming vehicle. What we do know is that it was confirmed as a globally engineered model and that U.K deliveries will start as early as 2020.
