Instagram Might Be Working on Standalone Shopping App

Instagram has been quite busy this year and it does not show signs of taking a break any time soon. After releasing the IGTV feature across the app over the summer and introducing new Story features, it seems like a new shopping app might be underway.

However it might end up being called (IG Shopping seems to be a favorite so far), the app would allow the users to make purchases directly from the people they follow through the app.

Instagram already has a solid number of businesses that use the platform, so a move in the online shopping branch would seem only natural to follow. Around four in five of the app’s users follow at least one business, while it’s been estimated that around 800 million people use the app every month.

With such solid numbers, I bet Instagram said: why not?

For now, there have been no official comments coming from Instagram but, if the feature does roll out, we’ll keep you posted about it.
