This week has been pretty exciting for Apple fans. For the first time ever, they got to see a cherry red iPhone. Apple has moved drastically from the usual neutrals and pastels they employ for their products and for a good reason, too. To top it off, they are going to put the phone and a revamped iPad on sale, today #mobilemagic
At the beginning of the week, the Cupertino giant revealed a bright red smartphone. The rear cover is red, the buttons share the same color… but not the front and Apple logo which remain… white (I know, black would have looked better).
This surprising decision from a company that has been the advocate of neutral colors and pastels is not a slip from their part. In fact, the smartphone is Apple’s way of supporting the fight against AIDS. A procent from all the proceeds will go to the Global Fund, the notorious group whose mission is to prevent and treat AIDS, but also malaria and tuberculosis.
The RED iPhone models are iPhone 7 and 7 Plus handsets with all the same specs and features. If you want to buy one, check the Apple Store at around 8:01 PDT today. The company has taken it down for the moment, leaving behind a mysterious message “We’ve got something special in store for you and we can’t wait for you to see it”. By all accounts, this should refer to the sale of the red iPhone and a revamped iPad, too.
iPhone 7 RED should retail at the price of $749 / 128GB model or $849 /256GB version and iPhone 7 Plus will be up for graps at $869 or $969, respectively. Meanwhile, the iPad is expected to come much cheaper, at just $329 price tag for the 32GB version with a processor upgrade.
