Roku didn’t just introduce the Streambar today but also had some great news for most Roku owners now.
Later on this year, “select 4K Roku” devices will get support for Airplay 2 and HomeKit.
Both of the features are coming with the Roku OS 9.4 update.
“HomeKit allows you to easily and securely control your Roku device using the Home app and Siri on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or HomePod,” says the company
If you own a 4K Roku device, you’ll be able to share the content from your iPhone, Mac or iPad to your TV.
That also goes for TCL or Sharp TV owners, which are usually powered by Roku, since it removes the need for a streaming box.
“With AirPlay 2, you can stream, control, and share your favorite content directly from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to your Roku device and bring the experience to the big screen,” adds Roku.
The Roku OS 9.4 update also adds surround level control for multi-channel audio, allowing you to better control the audio on your soundbar, a “Live TV” input tile on the home screen and hints to teach you how to better use Roku voice commands.
It will roll out later this month on select Roku devices, with Roku TVs to be updated in the following months.
