When major parts of The Last of Us Part II leaked earlier this week, some speculated that the leaker was a current or former employee of Naughty Dog upset over payment. However, this appears to have just been false rumors as Sony released a statement about the leaks.
According to a report by Kotaku, Sony has identified the individuals who leaked the footage of The Last of Us Part II and has stated definitively that “they are not affiliated with Naughty Dog or SIE.” However, their comments were limited to that as they are still conducting the investigation.
While the motivations behind the leak remain unclear, the leaked footage (as well as discussion about it) are still floating around the web. With a new June 19th release date, hopefully fans will be able to avoid the spoilers for the time being.
