If VR sickness has evaded you so far, you might wanna test your limits at Six Flags in Maryland. Here, you can ride a VR roller coaster and end up in Superman’s city #realitymagic
Superman: Ride of Steel Virtual Reality Roller Coaster is one of the newest and most exciting attractions at Six Flags, Maryland. The roller coaster ride is synced with the VR ride, so passengers won’t feel disconnected from the experience. In order to do that, the Six Flags team has a black box in the train with sensors that track the roller coaster wheels and communicate the train’s position. Then, this is transmitted to the VR headset 30 times per second so that the final experience is fluent and flawless.
What happens once you put the headset on? You start seeing Lex Luthor as he destroys the track of the train and sends robots to attack you.Thankfully, after floating in the air for a couple of seconds, Superman catches you and fights off the enemy.
It doesn’t seem that scary, yet imagine being transported at high speed through loops and in epic turns, without seeing anything real just what the virtual reality provides. You don’t actually see when a turn comes or where the train ride ends.
This isn’t the only VR ride you can catch at Six Flags. Two kids took the Dare Devil Dive Virtual Reality Roller Coaster and this is what happened:
It’s not an experience for the faint-hearted, that’s for sure.
