Vivo launched a new flagship smartphone, the Vivo X21. While it’s not the Vivo Apex (which will be revealed on June 12), it does bring a world premiere – the first smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
“Vivo has consistently pursued innovation to solve consumer pain points. With evolving consumer preferences, innovation has become a cornerstone for success in the smartphone market. Pushing the innovation threshold, Vivo has successfully pioneered the secure and intuitive In-Display Fingerprint Scanning technology,” said Vivo India CEO, Kent Cheng.
The in-display fingerprint scanner is found in a generous, 6.28-inch screen with 19:9 display ratio and 1080 x 2280 px resolution. Under the hood, the Vivo X21 has an octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset, 6 GB of RAM, 64 / 128 GB of storage expandable via microSD. All of this is powered by a 3,200 mAh battery with fast charging capabilities.
On the front, you’ll find a 12 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture while the dual rear camera combines a 12 MP, f/1.8 and a 5 MP, f/2.4 sensor.
The Vivo X21 is available in India for the equivalent of $530. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on a launch in other territories.
