Xiaomi Unveils Its Very First Mechanical Keyboard

Though Xiaomi is mainly known for making smartphones, the company also produces a wider range of different types of products like bicycles, electric toothbrushes and drones to name a few. As of recently, it seems like Xiaomi is also trying to dabble a bit in gaming and so, they have launched their own mechanical keyboard.

It’s priced at 299 Yuan, which makes it more or less $33, after conversion, which is not bad. Actually, it places it at the top of the cheapest mechanical keyboards list.

It has been named the Game Keyboard (I know, I know…) and it has a standard 104 key layout with RGB backlighting and a metal cover. It has anti-ghosting technology built-in and it comes with a 33 n-key rollover, which is pretty important for FPS and RTS gamers who press a handful of keys at once.

Of course, you can also change the RGB lighting display and choose between various patterns.

Xiaomi is using a Sonix microcontroller with a 32-bit Cortez-M0, alongside an USB interface that supports a 1000Hz polling rate. What the keyboard does not have is programmable keys and it cannot support macros.

The keys themselves are made out of PBT while the chassis is aluminium. You can regulate the angle of the keyboard using rubber nobs.

Earlier this year, Xiaomi has launched a gaming mouse as well – the Mi Gaming Mouse with a 7200 DPI sensor and RGB accents so the company might grace us with extra gaming peripherals in the future. We’re not complaining though, they’re pretty cheap and not that bad at all.
