10 Minute TikToks Are Rolling Out – Can They Compete with Youtube?

First YouTube rolled out YouTube Shorts to compete with TikTok, now Tiktok is firing back by letting users upload long-form content.

TikTok started rolling out up to 10 minute videos uploads to its users.

This is up from the 3-minute Tiktok video rule of now, which was also upped since the app first launched with up to 60 second videos.

“We hope this will further stimulate the creativity of our creators around the world,” says TikTok.

However, the company didn’t say how it planned to reward those creators.

YouTube is the most successful video content platform in the world because it lets content creators monetize their videos, while TikTok has seen a meteoric rise because it lets content creators quickly upload just short tidbits.

According to YouTube’s chief product officer Neal Mohan, “YouTube creators are the heart and soul of the platform” and the company will “continue to invest across our multiple formats” to “give them every opportunity possible”.

With both YouTube and Instagram (with their Reels) setting aside more money to convince content creators to use their platform, it will be interesting to see how TikTok will respond.
