Suited men and women can be seen roaming the streets of Barcelona today, each wearing a colorful badge with a red string around their necks. As different as they seem to be, we have one thing in common: our love for anything tech. It’s an exhilarating feeling to recognize your brethren from afar and to share the same enthusiasm for a Monday day. Tomorrow, more exact, when the biggest mobile trade in the world begins, Mobile World Congress. Why are we so enthusiastic? Maybe because of all these wonderful things that will happen in front of our eyes in the next four days:
1.Xiaomi will launch Mi Mix 2S, another iteration of the flagship that changed the mobile world with its daring bezel-less design. iPhone X, Galaxy S8 and all the other premium devices that got rid of the thick bezels took a leaf from this brand’s pages. This year, they’re planning to break the ice once more with a notch situated on the corner of the device – not revolutionary, true, but slightly better than the controversial Apple one.
2.Samsung will finally unveil Galaxy S9, S9+, one of the most leaked smartphones of the year. Why the hype? Well, Samsung brags about “reimagining” the camera; we’ll have to wait a couple more hours to see if they can deliver; so far, rumor is it will be able to record at 1,000fps and , while the device itself will sport stereo speakers and offer 3D emojis that, coupled with face tracking, will enable Android users to play with Animojis, as well.
3.Asus will show off Zenfone 5 and 5 Lite. The first has shown up online in leaked images and seems to sport a similar notch as the iPhone X, which means, once more, you get a bezel-less device. According to AnTuTu, Zenfone 5 will come with the latest chipset from Qualcomm, as well as 6GB of RAM. On the other hand, Zenfone 5 Lite will bring dual front cameras and rear cameras, with up to 3GB of RAM and Android Oreo from the get-go.
4.Vivo Xplay 7 is one of the biggest reasons we’re so excited this year! The manufacturer is set to launch a flagship killer, as Xplay 7 will offer 10GB of RAM, the latest Snapdragon chip, under-display fingerprint sensor and up to 512GB of storage. It sounds too good to be true, we know, but Vivo has always been a trendsetter.
5.Huawei will concentrate on tablets this year! Mediapad M5 10 Pro is a tablet with great specs, from the Kirin 960 processor to the 13Mp rear camera and 4GB of RAM. If we’re lucky, we might get close to the Huawei Watch 3, as well.
6.Caterpillar will keep doing what they do best – offer a rugged flagship phone, the S61. So far, we know that it will sport a laser-assisted distance measurement tool, it’s going to be waterproof, drop-resistant (from up to 1.8m heigh) and ready to review air quality indoors. Of course, the thermal camera will get an upgrade. So, really, it will probably be the number one choice for hikers or adventure sport lovers.
7. Last, but not least, ZTE Blade V9 will be a mid-ranger with dual camera and 18:9 aspect ratio, which means if you’re looking for something budget-friendly but still want to enjoy a beautiful display and all the advantages of a dual camera, this is the winner!
How does that sound? Hopefully, you got just as excited to see all of these, as we are! Starting tomorrow, we’ll be on the ground at #MWC18 for a live coverage of the event alongside Yue. So, stay tuned and follow #ttllive on social media!
