After much talk and many more rumors and leaks, Apple unveiled the new MacBook Pro. It’s beautiful, smart and best of all lets you completely customize your experience with an OLED panel instead of the row of function keys #hardwaremagic
Design
The revamped MacBook Pro comes in two sizes, a 13-inch and 15-inch model. Both are lighter than before, weighing at a maximum of 4 pounds (15 inch one). A new color is included to match your iPhone – space gray, in addition to silver. It’s all aluminum so you can bet on a gorgeous, sleek body.
Functionality
Here’s Apple true touch of gold. The function keys above the keyboard are indeed replaced by a glass OLED panel called Touch Bar. Essentially, you can customize it with any shortcut buttons you like so your back-and-forth from one app to another is seamless. Take a look here for everything you can do with it.
Biometric authentication
Touch ID can finally be accessed from all the important Apple products, including MacBooks. Now, you can securely unlock your laptop with your fingerprint and use it for authentication on Apple Pay. Plus, if you’re sharing your laptop, multiple users can log in safely using multiple fingerprint scans.
Hardware improvements
Trackpad area has doubled in size and the keyboard is now powered by second-generation “butterfly mechanisms”. Expect a better listening experience thanks to upgraded speakers and up to 130% faster graphics.

Under the hood of the 15-inch MacBook Pro you’ll find Intel’s sixth-gen quad-core Core i7 processors, AMD Radeon Pro graphics, 4GB of video RAM and up to 2TB of faster SSD storage. The 13-inch model has seen slight improvements too with the installment of a dual-core Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 2x faster Intel Iris Graphics and 2x faster SSD storage.
Changes
Nobody likes changes especially hardworking photographers. So, brace yourself for this piece of news: the SD card slot is out, guys. In an attempt of making the MacBook Pro as minimalist, thin and up-to-date they can, Apple has discarded the one feature most of you are counting on – storaaage. That’s no the only thing the company has left out. All the different ports – including MagSafe – were replaced with 4 multi-purpose USB-C ports. The silver lining here is they are also Thunderbolt 3 meaning they can transfer data up to 40Gbps and support two 4K displays at up to 60Hz. They’ll also be the ones in charge with charging (no pun intended) and outputting video.
Price
The 13 inch MacBook Pro is selling from $1799 (with Touch Bar) and the 15-inch model goes from $2399.
