After Galaxy Note 7 recall, one of the best features introduced by Samsung went away. Secure Folder, the company’s way of helping users protect sensible files by storing them away, disappeared overnight. Yet, the company might be on the verge of including the feature with the Galaxy S7’s Nougat update #mobilemagic
The rumor mill started when a Galaxy S7 user from the Beta program, suggested the idea as a new feature of the Android 7.1.1 update. Surprisingly, Samsung responded positively: “We will consider to support Secure Folder for the OS upgrade device (Nougat) as a downloadable service. It will be available in Galaxy Apps later on. Please note that the exact available time has not [been] decided yet.”
It’s practically safe to say that you’ll soon be able to put documents, videos and business files in a fingerprint-protected folder. The service will probably work as Samsung Pay, which can be accessed from the Samsung app store.
