Huami is not a newcomer but it hasn’t succeeded in standing out as more than an affordable wearable brand, either. Rather, it hadn’t, until the Amazfit GTS debuted. From the get-go, the smartwatch was presented as a fashionable, not only active, option for users who prize style as well.
It reminded us of the Apple Watch Series as soon as we saw it in Berlin so we couldn’t help and compare it with the watchOS products and, to our surprise, Huami really managed to best Apple in several areas.
I won’t spoil everything (because the video really does it much, much better) but I will say that the most shocking difference is in the battery department.
If you can pull off up to 18 hours of mixed usage with Apple Watch Series 4 and the new Series 5 model, Amazfit GTS offers up to 25 hours of continuous usage with GPS.
You can imagine how much usage you can get if you use GPS less, about 3 times a week. No? Two weeks! In basic watch mode, this period is increased to 46 days which is very impressive.
The body itself comes at 9.44mm thickness and 24.8g weight, both lower than Watch Series 4 and Watch Series 5, which are 10.7mm thick and go up to 48gr, the 44 mm model.
However, if you’re all about the display, you will be much more interested to see how the body screen performs and how the pixel density looks like.
Let’s just say that both fare better than the Apple Watch Series 4 and 5, 40 mm versions.
See how in the hands-on above, along with finding out the price for the smartwatch!
Then, tell us if you are considering to get an Amazift for you, especially considering the one BIG drawback Yue talks about!
