Sony Xperia 1 Professional Edition Arrives in Japan

Sony

Xperia 1 Professional Edition is the new version of the smartphone that Sony has decided to present to the public during an event held in Japan.

The Professional Edition, does not bring substantial changes compared to Xperia 1 but brings new features entirely addressed to the professional field that improve efficiency in certain areas such as photography.

To begin with, the smartphone features a 4K OLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio that can support 10-bit signal and a better calibrated display  with an Illuminant D65 color profile.

As far as the camera goes, the company introduced the Imaging Edge Mobile app to the device, which can transfer the images and videos from Sony cameras wirelessly to the smartphone. The Transfer & Tagging feature on the other hand allows the users to add tags and voice captions to their photos.

The smartphone also comes with Ethernet support for the USB Type-C charging port this way, those who need better connections in terms of general reliability and speed might come to benefit from a wired connection.

As far as the spec sheet goes that remains unchanged from its ‘less professional’ sibling: there is a Snapdragon 855 under the hood, coupled up with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It’s juiced up by the same 3,330mAh battery and comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box.

The Xperia 1 Professional Edition comes with a price tag of JPY 143,000, which translates into $1,320 after conversion, and will go on sale in Japan on October 25th.
