Montblanc, the famed watch brand, is entering the audio arena with their first pair of wireless headphones.
These are the MB 01 Smart Headphones and they’re a luxury offering, as most of Montblanc’s line-up.
The company told Engadget that it collaborated with Alex Rosson, a co-founder of audiophile darling Audeze, probably in a bid to reassure people that the $595 price tag is justified.
The Montblanc headphones indeed look luxury and their specs match the design.
They feature noise cancelling and are fitted with a play / pause button, an active noise cancelling button, a Google Assistant Button, volume slider and on/off switch on the right ear cup.
The cups themselves are wrapped in silicone, the ear pads use sheep leather, and the frame is made out of glossy aluminum, so the Montblanc MB 01 do use luxury materials.
However, what’s really notable is the use of USB-C for charging and support multipoint connection so you can pair them with two devices.
In an arena where lots of headphones still use older connectivity ports and don’t come with USB-C-to-3.5 mm adapters.
it’s nice to see Montblanc thought about audiophile needs, Though, at that price tag, we expect them to!
The Montblanc MB-01 Smart Headphones will ship in three color schemes – black with silver aluminum frame, gray with silver aluminum frame and brown with gold aluminum frame.
Look for them on Montblanc’s official website.
