Don’t Expect Too Much From The iPhone SE 2020’s Battery

Apple released the second-generation iPhone SE earlier this month. The iPhone SE 2020 rose some eyebrows not only because of the price ($399), but also because of some decent specs. The device runs on an A13 Bionic chip and there’s a 12-megapixel f/1.8 aperture camera, with Portrait mode on board and Smart HDR. There’s also a vibrant 4.7-inch display with an aluminum frame and glass back.

The downside to all these specs is that the phone’s battery performance is not as good as other devices in the same category. According to TomsGuide.com, the iPhone SE 2020 ranked last in a battery test with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S20, Google Pixel 3a, and Moto G Power. Not very surprising really, Apple is known for its poor battery life on its iPhones.

During the test, each phone was set to surf the web continuously using a cellular connection (4G or 5G) at 150 nits of screen brightness until they ran out of power. The smartphones were set to load a new site every 30 seconds.

The iPhone SE 2020 managed to stay on for 9 hours and 18 minutes, which is 2 hours less than the iPhone 11. The Moto G Power’ 5000 mAh battery had the longest run, of 16 hours and 10 minutes. The only device close to the iPhone SE 2020 was the Samsung Galaxy S20, with 9 hours and 31 minutes.
