In light of the conversations happening around the world, companies like Sony have released statements in support and postponed events. In move of solidarity, indie game distribution platform itch.io has released a game bundle with over 1000 games.
In a post on their website, the team at itch.io announced that they had partnered with hundreds of creators on the site to create a Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality.
The bundle is pay-what-you-want with a $5 minimum. The bundle in total costs over $5000 normally. All proceeds go to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Community Bail Fund. The goal of the bundle is to raise $5million.
Current games in the bundle include Overland, Night in the Woods, A Short Hike, and more. Once purchased, all games will be available for direct download on the itch.io site and not on other platforms like Steam.
It should be noted that the original bundle had 700 games, but developers have since added their games to the bundle. The bundle currently stands at 1000 games with over 700 creators contributing. As the bundle continues to grow, itch.io has stated that “all previous and future buyers get instant access” to the updated catalogue.
The bundle is available for about another week at the time of publication.
