In a world where dual rear cameras are already the default, Samsung decided to stand out. Surprisingly, the company decided to bring a triple rear camera not in a Galaxy S phone but in the more affordable, Galaxy A line.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 version was just announced and its main feature is obviously the combination of three lenses. The primary one is 24 MP with f/1.7 aperture, the secondary one is an ultra-wide 8 MP offering, while the third one, with 5 MP, will handle the depth.
The combination of the first and third lens will handle the heavy lifting, while the depth one will let you do Live Focus portraits similar to the ones taken by the Galaxy S9 devices.
What’s interesting to note is the fact that the fingerprint reader has been relegated to the side of the phone, which makes the glass back look sleeker.
The front camera is 24 MP, with some bokeh thrown in, so that’s not too shabby either. The screen is a 6-inch Super AMOLED offering with 2220 x 1080 px resolution.
Of course, since this is a Galaxy A smartphone, under the hood you’ll find decidedly average specs. Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 has a 2.2 GHz octa-core processor, paired with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM and a 3,300 mAh battery. On the storage front, you can pick from 64 GB or 268 GB and extend that using a MicroSD card.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 will ship with Android 8.0 but pricing and availability aren’t yet known.
We probably won’t have to wait too long for those details, as Samsung promised to unveil a new Galaxy A smartphone on October 11. Could we be seeing yet another model, not just this one?
