LG has released a post on its official South Korean website stating that the Android 9 Pie update will be arriving to the LG7 ThinQ sometime in the first quarter of 2019 but the company has not released an official date for it.
At best, the report is a little vague. LG did roll out the beta version of Android 9 Pie to some South Korean G7 ThinQ devices back in November but there hasn’t been a word about it since.
LG also launched a Software Upgrade division at the start of 2018 and promised that it would invest more resources into extending the lifespan of its smartphones with more stable updates that will roll out more often.
Even so, the timeline we can see on the website suggest that the users will still have to wait months for the Android 9 Pie upgrade as the only updates available so far are aimed towards various bug fixes that have been plaguing the G6 and the V40 models.
If you do own an LG G7 ThinQ, you will definitely get the Android 9 Pie update, rest assured. The only thing you’ll need until then will be a lot of patience.
