Developer Steve Troughton-Smith made a discovery in the iOS 12.2 beta code which might hint that four new iPad models and an iPod Touch upgrade are on their way.
He posted his discovery on Twitter and showed references for iPad designations “iPad 11,1,” “iPad 11,2,” iPad 11,3,” and “iPad 11,4,”.
Among them, there is also an “iPod9,1” reference.
Neither of the references contain any mention of the Face ID, so we can only guess that Apple will not be integrating the technology on the upcoming iPads, choosing to stick to the fingerprint scanner instead.
On the other hand, the iPod reference might bring a smile on people’s faces, since no one was expecting that Apple would remember the iPod Touch and bring an upgrade to it.
The device, which was launched back in 2015 with 32GB of storage, still remains popular with a number of users who prefer to keep their music in a dedicated device rather than store it on their phones, tablets or laptops.
