A new image that recently surfaced on Weibo shows an alleged iPhone chassis with a cutout for three rear lenses – a design that was initially leaked by OnLeaks back in January and was backed up by Japanese blog Macotakara, in March.
The chassis lines up with a schematic that was posted by Twitter user @laobaiTD, whose page has since been, unfortunately, deleted. The schematic can be seen below. It shows the lenses arranged in the same triangle shape alongside cutouts for the flash and the microphone.
A number of reports claimed that the camera design will only be available for the top-end model but there is no actual proof available to back that up.
So far, most people have not reacted very well to the potential design, as it can be seen from the number of disgruntled replies to Ben Gaskin’s Tweet where he presented the chassis to his followers.
So far, Apple has not confirmed or denied the design and all the reports have been based on nothing but early designs and a fair dose of speculation.
While we have to admit that the reports have been consistent, it’s still safe to say they should be taken with a grain of salt.
