Isn’t it good when rumors turn out to be true? That is the case of the mysterious ASUS Zenwatch 3, which was unveiled Wednesday at #IFA2016. The new smartwatch comes with the predicted round display, three buttons, classic look and a couple of surprises #objectmagic
From the first pictures, you can tell one thing about this take on the wristwatch: it’s lux! Asus is one of the first companies to realize that, as much as we love the brains of a smartwatch, we are desperately in need of beautiful design. Zenwatch 3 clearly delivers with a stainless steel body in gunmetal, silver or rose gold colors and leather straps. Of course, there are rubber straps too, if you’re looking for something more casual and sport.
The curved Corning Gorilla Glass makes it more similar to traditional watches, although you can customize it as much as you please, with more than 50 watch faces available. You’ll be more than relieved to know that Asus solved Motorola’s problem with the black bar. This watch takes full advantage of its circular 1.39-inch AMOLED display, supporting widgets on the whole 9.95 mm thick surface. You can check the weather, pedometer or missed call notifications with zero restrictions.
As we’ve said before, Asus equipped its latest watch with a third that you can use to quickly access your favorite app. It also gave it a helping hand with an extra battery pack. When the 340 mAh one caves in, you can attach a 200 mAh accessory on the back. Plus, the HyperCharge feature lets you charge the phone in 15 minutes up to 60%.
Last but not least, Asus made sure you get the best in matters of processing power with the new Snapdragon Wear 2100, whether you connect it to your iPhone or Android phone. The water-resistant phone starts from 229 euros in Europe, which means about $255 when it hits the US market.
IFA 2016 started on a great note and we’re expecting more terrific gadgets and impressive electronics in the days to come! Stay tuned for more unveils.
