AirPods Pro 2 To Debut with Sound-Making Case and Apple Lossless Audio Codec

What do you want in your AirPods Pro 2? Most people would have said more battery life but, if these reports are true, Apple has another trick up their sleeve – a sound-making case.

No, you won’t be able to play music on an AirPods case but you’ll find it a lot easier if you misplaced it around the house.

Right now, only AirPods make a noise if you use the Find My app but with the Pro 2 model the case will have the same feature as well.

This is according to famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, whose investor note was seen by AppleInsider. However, the report has something that will make most audiophiles perk up: the AirPods Pro 2 will be the first ones to support lossless audio.

Even AirPods Max, the most expensive pair from the line-up, use Bluetooth to deliver audio, which doesn’t allow devices to use lossless audio.

With the Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) reportedly on the AirPods Pro 2, Apple will have to account for the limitations of Bluetooth technology and even skip this tech entirely.

Apple is expected to release the AirPods Pro 2 at the end of 2022, so there’s plenty of development time left there.
