Last year, Google launched a Fast Pair feature for Android 6.0+ to make it easier to pair Bluetooth headphones to your smartphone and now that feature gets so much better.
After partnering with multiple audio companies, Google now lets you use Google accounts to use the same headphones or speakers with different phones.
“From now on, if you upgrade your Android phone, simply signing in to your Google account will import your audio device settings, which will make pairing a breeze.
We have been working closely with dozens of manufacturers, many of which are bringing new Fast Pair compatible devices to market over the coming months. This includes Jaybird, who is already selling the Tarah Wireless Sports Headphones, as well as upcoming products from prominent brands such as Anker SoundCore, Bose, and many more.
We also want to make it easy for manufacturers to ship compatible products with minimal additional engineering effort. We collaborated with industry-leading Bluetooth audio companies such as Airoha Technology Corp., BES and Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd. (QTIL) to add native Fast Pair support to their software development kits,” says Google in a blog post that outlines compatible devices and the future of Fast Pair.
That future also includes Chromebook users, who will receive the update sometime next year.
