Missing being able to take fun group selfies with your friends? Well, Apple has patented software technology that would allow people to take group selfies in the pandemic context, respecting the social distance.
The patent pictures a camera software that takes synthetic group photos and it goes like this – you invite people for a selfie session and the software connects all participants and arrange them together in the layout of a selfie.
Users would enjoy still photos, stored video images, or live streaming images. They can keep the original selfie or the group version, or can make their own improvements or adjustments.
The system approved by the US Patent and Trademark Office was granted just in time when the COVID-19 pandemic has taken over the world, and people couldn’t be physically together.
Surprisingly, the concept wasn’t developed specifically for the current situation, as Apple first registered the patent in 2018 but it was just granted recently, on June 2nd.
There is no info on when the and which Apple devices would have access to the feature, but according to a Gizmodo report it could be exclusive to iPads or iPhones.
