A lot of people use smartwatches to keep tabs on their overall health and wellness and more recently, company Endel has added a new version of its Apple Watch app to the App Store.
Endel has been around for a while but the new version of the app is standalone, which means that the sounds it generates can be transmitted directly from the Apple Watch without the iPhone acting as an intermediary.
The app analyzes the user’s heart rate and the location, the weather and the time of the day. With all that information in tow, it creates ‘personalized soundscapes’ that, according to Endel, can help you relax, focus and fall asleep.
There have been studies done that proved different frequencies can affect the human brain during sleep, though no one is sure how that happens exactly. But relaxing sounds have been shown to reduce feelings of anxiety, which is something that often prevents people from falling asleep or if they do fall asleep, their sleep is often troubled and they don’t feel rested.
But so far so good for Endel it seems: the app has a 4.4 star rating via 771 ratings on the App Store. It’s also available on the iPhone and the iPad and on Android smartphones.
So if you have trouble sleeping or feeling particularly anxious, you might want to give it a shot on whatever device you primarily use and see how it works for you.
