Apple Will Choose Lightning Over USB-C for its 2019 iPhone

According to Japanese site Macotakara, the 2019 iPhone will be using Lightning, as a cost-saving measure, even if the company will be packing in the phone’s box the 5W charger and the USB-A to Lightning cable.

That means that you’ll still need to purchase a USB-C to Lightning cable to fast charge your most recent iPhone. Oh and also the power brick that comes with USB-C Power Delivery support.

Apple has started shipping the 18W USB-C charger alongside the iPad Pro line in the fall of 2018 so a lot of people assumed that the accessory will become a staple for the iPhone as well.

Unfortunately, if Macotakara’s report is to be believed, we’re not going to get that on the 2019 iPhone. But fingers crossed, right?
