Loved The Mi Mix? This $216 Smartphone Looks Just Like It

Xiaomi Mi Mix is an example of a truly remarkable phone in terms of design. With this device, the company succeeded in bringing us closer to the ideal – a phone with no bezels. Unfortunately, the spicy price discouraged many customers. Well, now, there’s a low-cost solution on the market for those of you who loved the edge-to-edge display. Archos just released Sense 55S, a phone with very similar looks #mobilemagic

Mi Mix started the whole bezel-less hysteria. In fall, even Apple might take some cues from the company and launch a device with the whole front converted into a display. If it does, you’ll bet it’s going to be very, very expensive. So, if you love the idea of a slab of glass connecting you to media and Internet, but don’t want to spend close to a a thousand dollars to get it, Archos is your man.

So, if you love the idea of a slab of glass connecting you to media and Internet, but don’t want to spend close to a a thousand dollars to get it, Archos is your man.

The company grabbed our attention with a 5.5-inch mid-range handset with a 78% screen-to-body ratio (for comparison, Xiaomi’s phone had an 84%). As you can see in the image above, the phone’s upper and side bezels were heavily slimmed, although the bottom bezel is pretty significant.

Good news is the Archos handset is around $400 cheaper than the Mi Mix. The company is selling Sense 55S at £170, so around $216! At this price, you’re probably expecting a pretty rubbish, expendable phone. But that’s not the case. You can count on Android 7.0 Nougat, 8MP dual lens cameras, 2Gb of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 3,000 mAh battery. Before you ask, yes, the device features a fingerprint sensor located on the back.

Sense 55S will be released this month in the U.K, along three other smartphones. The other handsets in the series are:

  • Diamond Alpha, which carries 13MP dual cameras and 16MP selfie shooter with a Snapdragon 652 chip on board;
  • Diamond Gamma, also a mid-range phone, to sell at $255
  • Sense 50X, a rugged mobile running on a MediaTek chip and sporting IP68 water and dust resistance
