Best Value For Money At Photokina: Yi M1, A $330 Mirrorless Camera

Yi Technology is on a roll! After unveiling a cool handheld gimbal for their Yi 4K action camera at IFA and the Erida drone at Interdrone, the company is making headlines for a $330 mirrorless camera presented at Photokina #fotomagic

M1 is set to be the OnePlus 3 of mirrorless cameras, a device that sports the best specs you can expect for a very low price. Imagine that for less than $400, you get a mirrorless with a 20MP Sony IMX269 Micro Four Thirds sensor and a 12-40mm zoom lens with an f/2.5-5.6 aperture.

Add to that the ability to shoot 4K like most flagship cameras nowadays, the option to capture RAW images and go with an ISO of up to 25,600. How about lenses? For now, there’s only one other lens in discussion, a 42.5mm f/1.8 aperture fixed one that will set you back another $120. Other thant that, you can adjust settings directly from a 3-inch back display and take your time with a mechanical shutter. Support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is on the menu, too.

Does it look like a Leica? Yes, it does. Yet, what it lacks in original design, it makes up for in features and hardware.  The only drawback? It’s not available for sale outside of China so you’ll have to plan everything in advance. Launch date: tomorrow, September 23rd.
