If you’re a selfie fanatic but would still like to use a proper camera, not the ones in your smartphone, the new Canon PowerShot SX740 HS might just scratch that itch. As Canon says, the 3.0-inch LCD screen that can rotate 180 degrees will help “make transitioning away from smartphone photography fun and easy.”
Even though the design is identical to the PowerShot SX730, its predecessor, under the hood you’ll find a new Digic 8 processor. That allows it to shoot photos at 7.4 FPS and, even better, let’s you film in 4K at 3FPS instead of the previous version, which could only handle 1080p.
Beyond that, the PowerShot SX740 HS brings a 40x optical zoom lens and a 20.3 MP CMOS sensor. All of this will be available for $399 sometime in late August.
It’s good to see that Canon is still catering to millenials, especially the company just discontinued its film cameras.
