We Now Have The Most Crisp And Clear Pixel 3 XL Leak Ever

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are about to launch in a month, so normally around this time we expect some leaks to show up here and there and they’re usually low quality pictures of – mostly – dummy devices or screenshots of inventory systems.

But this time, thanks to Russian site Rozetked, we have what’s possibly the most revealing phone leaks ever. Allegedly, the device was ‘misplaced’ from a Google shipment… and that’s all I am going to comment on that.

The photos confirm all the design rumors: the phone has a notch and a bottom bezel and, judging by the grills we can see at the top and bottom of the device, Google decided to keep the stereo speakers. The handset has one single camera on the back instead of the more common dual lens setup we have seen this year and the display is 2960 × 1440 pixels. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor.

In the photo of the box, we can see the phone will come with a USB-C charger and an EU adapter, a Quick Switch Adapter and also wired headphones that use the Pixel Buds design. What we don’t see on the Pixel 3 XL is a headphone jack.

The phone does have a 12.2MP rear camera with a f/1.8 aperture, which we can tell thanks to the EXIF data. That data also points to an 8MP front camera with f/1.8 aperture. How do we have the EXIF data? Because our leaker took photos with the phone throughout London. You can find them all on his Instagram.

How he got his hands on the phone, we don’t know, though the label on the headphone jack adapter reads “DVT Samples”, which stands for Design Verification Test model. The phone might be an early sample that was never meant to see the light of day to begin with. The headphones have an invalid address (@googel.com) on them, so something’s a little fishy here.

We’ll wait and see what Google has to say about it… and also in how much trouble our London-based Russian friend will be.
