Elon Musk took to Instagram to announce that the travel tunnel beneath LA is nearly done. Not only that, but free passenger rides will also be offered in the next few months.
In the post, Musk mentions that they have yet to get final regulatory approvals, but judging by the overall positive tone of voice, all is going in the right direction.
He noted that the system, once completed, “will always give priority to pods for pedestrians & cyclists for less than the cost of a bus ticket.”
If all goes according to plan, Musk would like to continue building an entire network of tunnels beneath the city as an alternative to the notoriously “soul-destroying traffic” – as he put it – of Los Angeles. He plans to build an entire subterranean maze of hydraulic platforms and speed electromagnetic sleds, brimming with bus-like pods.
While exciting, the Boring Company’s vision is riddled with obstacles and at times, seems endlessly complicated. Don’t forget that last year, in pure Elon Musk style, he was quoted saying: “We have no idea what we’re doing—I want to be clear about that.”
If all works out well, LA residents will have a convenient way of traveling all while avoiding traffic.
