Facebook Says It’s “Working” to Resolve Outages Across Its Platforms

facebook AI

In the last hours, Facebook users have been experiencing some problems loading images, videos, and other data. These issues were spotted all across its apps including Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. DownDetector received reports of users unable to load photos in the Facebook News Feed, view stories on Instagram, or send messages on WhatsApp.

According to DownDetector, problems first arose around 8 Am ET Wednesday. People reported specific posts or photos don’t show, but that the page might load on Facebook and Instagram. Facebook Messenger has also been experiencing the same issues with users reportedly not being able to load messages.

Facebook has confirmed its having problems in a tweet earlier and says its “working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
The last Facebook outage happened in March this year when DownDetector reported 7.5 million users having issues accessing the app. “As a result of a server configuration change, many people had trouble accessing our apps and services,” Facebook posts on Twitter. The problems lasted for a few hours then.

Apps and websites with such a large number of users and huge traffic will always experience the occasional disruptions. The real inconvenience is for end-users who rely on these platforms. For some these services have become critical for business and communication and every hour they are not working might mean loss of revenue.
