The coming weeks will see the gradual rollout of Facebook Messenger 4, the latest update to the popular messaging app. After months of users complaining about a cluttered, ad-filled interface, now Facebook brought some much-needed simplification.
The nine tabs of the Facebook Messenger app will be collapsed in just three: Chats, for all the conversations, People, for your list of online Facebook friends, and Discover, where you can find Instant Games and the Business pages you liked.
Even the interface is more visually appealing: the Facebook Messenger 4 brings color gradients for chat bubbles and, as you scroll through the conversation, you can see the colors shifting.
For those who tend to chat away into the night, Facebook also promised a Dark Mode for reduced eye-strain but that update will not show up in Messenger 4.
