Good news for those of you who use WhatsApp on Android, as you can now finally lock the app using your fingerprint.
The update was announced on the company’s blog. Whatsapp came up with the feature hoping to add a new layer of security on the app.
First introduced on iOS devices back in February 2019, the feature is here to stay on Android.
By opening the Settings menu and search for Account, users will go to Privacy, where they can select Fingerprint Lock. By selecting these options, Whatsapp will not open until you scan your fingerprint.
Moreover, users will be able to choose how fast WhatsApp will lock by choosing between right away, after one minute, or 30 minutes. Like Facebook Messenger’s feature, users can choose whether to show or hide content in their notifications.
Keep in mind that when the app is locked, calls can still be answered.
The feature was long-awaited by users, who until now lacked a more secure way to protect their information on the app.
