FotoNation and VeriSilicon Collaborate On IPU 2.0, Key Platform For Smarter-Than-Ever-Before Devices

If you thought this year was filled with great technological breakthroughs and cool projects, wait for the next one! In the first part of 2017, FotoNation and VeriSilicon will be working on a key platform for smarter-than-ever-before cars, surveillance systems, mobile and IoT products. The image processing unit they will be collaborating on, known in the industry as IPU 2.0, is set to take to the next level all the smart objects we’ve come to rely on  #tomorrowmagic

FotoNation and VeriSilicon have agreed to develop together a next generation image processing platform that offers best-in-class programmability, power, performance and area for computer vision, computational imaging and deep learning. This matters because we’re talking about major improvements on the “brain” of most devices, the way they “see” the world around them, enhance it and learn from it.

This IPU 2.0 can offer a unified programming environment and pre-integrated imaging features for a wide range of applications across surveillance, automotive, mobile, IoT and more. Plus, it supports open initiatives such as OpenVX, OpenCL, OpenCV, Caffe and TensorFlow, facilitating seamless processing between computer vision, computational imaging and deep neural networking features.
